
Roy Stewart

Roy is a Miāgmaw lawyer from New Brunswick, and resides in unceded Wolastoqiyik territory. As a full-time lawyer in private practice with Burchell Wickwire Bryson LLP, his practice is focused exclusively on working with Indigenous clients, including Indigenous not-for-profit organizations, communities, governments and individuals across Mi'gma'qi.
Roy has appeared before all levels of Court in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, and has represented Indigenous organizations at provincial and national commissions of inquiry, including the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls. Negotiating rights implementation on behalf of Indigenous clients with the Federal and Provincial governments forms a large part of his practice.
Roy is a past Chair of the Canadian Bar Association-Nova Scotia Aboriginal Law Section and has been a part-time faculty member at the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University since 2020, where he is a Co-Coach of the law schoolās Kawaskimhon Moot team. He also has a Certificate in Negotiation from Osgoode Hall Law School.
